We all want to have smooth running computers that deliver top performance. There are several things you can do to achieve this goal, like fix Windows Registry problems, remove unnecessary applications and junk files, and make sure you’re not using outdated software. Speaking about that, you’re definitely not getting the most performance you can get out of your hardware if you’re using outdated drivers. To make sure you’re not using outdated drivers, go get DriverScanner. This Uniblue Systems-developed tool will scan your machine, detect outdated drivers, and download the latest drivers for you.

DriverScanner is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8. To get the application up and running on any of these Windows editions, you will have to go through a standard setup procedure. This means you’ll have to download an installer, run it, and then click through a simple setup wizard. When you’re done and you launch DriverScanner, the application will immediately go to work and scan your PC (this is the default behavior; you can change it if you want to).

There are three large tabs in the upper right hand corner of the application’s interface:
Overview – presents information on when a scan was last performed, info on how many devices have outdated drivers, lets you start a scan, and more.
Scan – lets you start a scan, view scan results, and update outdated drivers.
Manage – from this tab you can tweak the application’s behavior by accessing several settings.

Using DriverScanner is a very simple matter. If you don’t change the default settings, when your computer boots up, DriverScanner will start automatically. And when it starts, it automatically performs a scan of your system; it uncovers outdated drivers, presents a list of results, and invites you to update said outdated drivers. It’s such a straightforward process that even a complete novice will quickly get the hang of it.

Please note that the trial version is limited: it will detect outdated drivers but not download updates; it will not let you use the scheduler function.

If you want to get the most out of your hardware, then you need to keep your drivers up to date. Get DriverScanner and you will always have the latest drivers squeezing top performance out of your hardware components.

Pros

DriverScanner is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8. Installing DriverScanner is a simple, effortless process. You will find the interface very easy to use. Use DriverScanner to detect and update outdated drivers.

Cons

The trial does not update drivers, the scheduler is disabled, nag screen.
